A new one I see
welcome, now tell me a few thing about yourself.
welcome, now tell me a few thing about yourself.
Name: Jaye Severin
Nickname(s): None.
Gender: Male
Age: 15 years old
Rank: Civilian
Occupation: Student
Home Town: Halifax
Weapon(s): None.
Power: Jaye has the ability to manipulate the 'visible light spectrum'. This means he can increase the light within ten feet of himself so it's absolutely blinding, deplete the light so within that area, nothing can be seen, and simply adjust the light. For example, if a room was too dim, he could increase the amount of visible light, thus rendering it more clear. He can also change the colors of light, though that, so far, hasn't been useful but for freaking people out and giving them headaches. In addition, no matter how little or how much visible light there is, Jaye can see perfectly, rendering darkness and any light attacks obsolete, and when he depletes the light to make it utter darkness, nothing can penetrate it.
What do you look like

Hair Color: Blond.
Eye Color: Green.
Scars: None.
Piercings: None.
Tattoos: None.
Full Appearance: Jaye stands at about 5’5”, weight roughly 130 pounds. Course, he tends to slouch a touch, skewing the accuracy of that, but that still stands true. He’s got just a touch of pudge to him, certainly not a lot, but seeing as he doesn’t work out, it makes sense. He’s certainly not twiggy, too, but his body isn’t quite big, either, putting him at roughly ‘average’, the median of the two, and kinda lacking muscles. Doesn’t really feel like putting in the work to gain them, y’know?
The first thing that most people notice about him, however, is his scruffy blond hair. It’s straight, with a tendency to flip flop in quite a few directions, covering his eyes and causing him to always blow it out of the way or tuck it behind his ears, and comes down to about his shoulders. The second are his light green eyes, usually alight with hesitant curiosity. Just a scant few freckles dot his face, as well, with a minute smile usually present, sometimes growing bigger, but typically just small, and, on the occasion, disappearing altogether.
Clothing-wise, Jaye sticks with the same style all the time, albeit with different clothes. Loose jeans, Converse or this pair of hand-me-down hiking boots he loves to wear, coupled with a T-shirt (ranging from all colors, but typically black or green), a sweatshirt (his favorite is green, which is his favorite color, but he also has a black one, and a red one) to jam his hands into, which they pretty much live in, and when it gets colder, a jacket that overlays his sweatshirt. He also likes beanie hats, but you’re not allowed to wear them on school days at Kadic, so he saves those for the weekends. His casual clothes, coupled with his typical stance, give him a bit of an approachable demeanor. He’s the quiet, but nice kid, of course.
Tell me stranger
what are you like, what kind of person.
what are you like, what kind of person.
Likes: Theatre, Singing, Special Effects, Biking, Chatting, and Veggies.
Dislikes: Math, Most Fruit, Being in too big crowds, having to argue with people, and most physical activity.
Habits: Cannot help but fidget at all times, and bites his lip when he's nervous.
Secrets: That he has powers, and that he swings both ways.
Fears: Someone finding out about his powers, and losing his family to a monster.
Strengths: Jaye is, honestly, quite artistically talented, but not quite in the way you're thinking, most likely. He loves to sing, and acting is something that he's dabbled in, though he's a touch shyer with his acting skills than his singing. He's also quite good at the special effects that go on behind stage, quite adept at everything from pyrotechnics to fog screens. The theatre is his passion, whether he's onstage or off, and so he's quite good at all the skills that apply there.
Needlework and make-up, he's okay on, having to have learned a bit of sewing and make-up application to get by, but it's not his forte, though, of course, he knows more than most. School-wise, his best subject is history, as he finds that quite appealing, he's not half-bad at gym, because while he's not the most athletic out there, he certainly tries, quite a bit, in fact, so he tends to go forward in there, and Language skews, depending on if they're working on literature (in which case, high grades!) or anything else (in which case, probably not as good).
Jaye's also pretty good with electronics, albeit not in a 'coding is easy' type way. He gets how to deal with them pretty easily, as his Dad works with them, so he's picked up quite a bit, and knows his way around a computer, and the Internet.
Weaknesses: Grades are a big thing with him, at least, the classes he doesn't quite click with, namely, Math and Science. He tries quite hard at them, always putting forth his best effort, but they just don't click with him, meaning his grades tend to suffer. A tutor might be a good choice, but he's kind of too embarrassed (and too busy) to get one. Language, when they're not doing literature, his scores tend to skew downwards, as he really doesn't like the rest of Language, and while he tries, it just doesn't... come out the same.
His biggest issue, however, is over-commitment, and the stress that comes with that. Jaye is not one to say no, not ever, and thus, he finds himself with far too much on his plate, often staying up late into the night to work on costumes, plan out the special effects, figure out his history paper, help a friend with something... He doesn't say no, never wanting to, and ends up with a ridiculous amount of things on his plate. And, of course, when he's stressed, he doesn't get as much sleep, and the quality of his work starts to inch downwards, as does his grades. He really needs to learn to say no.
Finally, in two minor issues, he's quite insecure about his body, most comments on it getting a blush of embarrassment, or just absolute awkwardness as he tries to ignore said comment, and he's absolutely atrocious at hair styling. Don't ask him to do your hair, even if you've got five minutes to get on stage and he's the only free pair of hands. He really doesn't know what he's doing.
Personality: Jaye... is awkward. That's honestly the best way to put him. He does his best to be friendly, greeting other people with a smile and a wave, doing his best to chat, but jokes can fly over his head, and there's just the general fact that a lot of the time, there's an air of 'uncomfortableness' around him. He's the kind of boy to give a bit of a laugh when he's awkward, and just... doesn't know what to say. He's also very self-conscious about his body, and any sort of remark relating to it (whether a compliment or insult!) will make him even more uncomfortable.
He can get kind of excited over the things he likes, and that's where he finally gets comfortable, eyes shining as he relates some awesome tale about the book he just read, smile wide, and big, animated hand gestures, to go along with it. As long as they're on a subject he likes, anyone can get Jaye to relax, and once he's relaxed, he stays that way until they hit an uncomfortable topic (bodies, girls, etc.), smiling far more easily and chatting. Want to befriend him? Easiest way is to make him comfortable. Around his theater friends, he's always comfortable, though, easy-going and just generally fine.
All in all, Jaye isn't one to get mad. He gets irritated, yes, and when he does that, he lets it out in healthy ways, either venting to his sister (or brother, but usually sister), shoving himself into his homework until he feels better, or something of the sorts. On homework, he's pretty responsible, keeping a detailed list of everything he has to do every single day, and a schedule of all of his theater performances and practices.
Over all, Jaye is an awkward boy who loves to chat once he's comfortable, and is a generally good friend, loyal and always sticking up for them. Heck, he sticks up for people when he doesn't know them. Bullying? Not okay.
What is your past
who are you, have any family, children.
who are you, have any family, children.
Family: Brother - Rephael Severin, Sister - Avril Severin
History: Born to a pair of loving parents in the lovely country of Canada, Jaye had a fairly normal early life, for the most part. He had a nice older sister, named Avril, and a slightly spoiled younger brother, named Rephael. Interested in theatre, that was his absolute passion, with most of his friends coming from there. From an early age, he put on his own acts, from puppet shows to magic shows to just plain old musicals and plays, thus, his parents signed him up for every available class at the local civic theatre.
He had never been happier.
Delving into the arts, Jaye found his niche, amongst the acting, the singing, and the special effects (ESPECIALLY the special effects), taking a particular like to a musical called Les Miserables, seeing as, at a young age, he played Gavroche in it. He read the book, watched every version of the musical he could get his hands on, read fanfiction, wrote fanfiction, watched the movie when it came out... It was his absolute love, the 'fandom' that he fit into.
And, for awhile, it seemed that things would continue in that perfect direction, one with nothing out of the norm, not really, just fun things... Until he was 12. That was when he discovered he was not like the rest.
It had been a simple, extremely dark night. And he... he wanted light. And all of a sudden, he had it. He had... light. After that, he concentrated on the sensation he felt, and practiced, and practiced, and... he could control light. It was a revolutionary concept, yet, at the same time... He couldn't possibly share it. After all, this was a big thing, people hated others for having powers, for being hunters or monsters, for all sorts of irrational stuff like that, he couldn't reveal it...
Jaye told exactly one person. His older sister, Avril. She was the only one to know, period. Rephael didn't know, none of his friends knew, and neither did his parents... Just her. And she kept it a secret.
Thus, he grew. Practicing in secret until he had complete control over his powers, growing in his local acting community until he was awesome, and ooh, were they going to put on Les Miserables again? And just... growing up.
And now, he's fifteen. A full three years of powers under his belt, an awesome sister by his side, and a great brother, and y'know what? He thinks he's pretty gosh darn set.

Okay, okay, Jaye was kinda hungry by this point. Class had run just a tooooouch late, and considering he wasn't the best with picking up his things in the first place, and had had to scramble to get them all back together and throw them in his backpack before his tide of classmates all swept away, he had gotten out of there even later. Plus, he had had to talk to the teacher about his paper, because apparently when he e-mailed it, it hadn't gone through. So yeeeeah, not fun there.
Needless to say, he was kind of in a rush, which explained his very quick pace down the hall, out onto the grounds, and headed towards the cafeteria. He was hungry, but he had gotten it, well, beaten into him that you do not run in school. Despite the fact that everyone broke that rule.
Still, Jaye was speed-walking, and half-way distracted, still slipping his pile of stuff into his bag as he walked, barely glancing up as he stuffed his notebook away, followed by some pencils, and then his binder... He was about to slip in the new book he was reading (The Host by Stephanie Meyer, which was actually pretty good! The Twilight books had been meh, at least, to him, not particularly enjoyable, but this one was fairly neat.), when his elbow clipped someone on his fast pace, knocking into them, and he came to a halt, face worried and concerned as he took in the two girls. "I'm sorry!" he hastily apologized to the one he didn't recognize, the smaller one who had to be new this year. "I should've been watching where I was going, are you okay?"
The book in his hands accompanied his slight gestures, as he was one of those people who kind of needed to emphasize things with his hands, brow knit and concerned. He had knocked into that girl, who seemed younger, and then there was a second girl, the new one in his grade who was seated on the bench... Aaah, how embarrassing!
